Save a Girl, Change the World to launch a new campaign!!!

Details coming soon on new campaign for Save a Girl, Change the World.
I feel compelled to write about the recent attack on a young girl for supporting girls education.

As written in the Huffington Post -

KARACHI, Pakistan (RNS) The Taliban is threatening to kill a 14-year-old Pakistani girl whom it shot for helping other girls go to school -- if she survives a wounding that has made her a hero to many Pakistanis.

Schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head and neck, was airlifted Thursday (Oct. 11) to a military hospital for her own protection after the attack that also injured two of her friends. A hospital spokesman described her condition as "satisfactory" on Friday.

Malala was targeted for speaking out about girls' education in Swat Valley in northwestern Pakistan, an area where Islamists who oppose schools for girls have much control.

In 2009, Malala wrote a blog under a pseudonym about living under Taliban rule for the BBC in the Urdu language -- winning a national peace prize for her efforts.
"I realized the importance of education when it was banned in Swat," Malala said in an August interview with Black Box Sounds, a production company in Pakistan. "I wanted to be able to attend school again. I wished for peace in Swat and that I could go to school."

This is an outrage and now more than ever there needs to be a fight for girl's education everywhere.

Coalition for Adolescent Girls

Coalition for Adolescent Girls
http://www.coalitionforadolescentgirls.org/

I cannot say enough good things about this organization!!!

Coalition for Adolescent Girls: “The Coalition for Adolescent Girls (CAG) brings together more than 30 international organizations that design, implement and evaluate programs that benefit girls throughout the developing world who are trapped in cycles of poverty. When adolescent girls are educated, healthy and financially literate, they can create lasting change within communities and end generations of poverty”.

The organization is involved in 5 main initatives:1. Girls Count; 2.) Education; 3.) Health; 4.) Voice; 5.) MAPS. These 5 initiatives are pivotal to helping to raise awareness for girls and young women in developing countries.

Why Girls? “BECAUSE THEY'RE READY TO CHANGE OUR WORLD! She is the world’s most powerful force for change. An adolescent girl stands at the doorway of adulthood. If she stays in school, remains healthy, and gains skills, she will marry later, have fewer and healthier children, and earn an income that she’ll invest back into her family”.

Continue to check back for details on how to join the efforts! Also, remember to check out http://www.cafepress.com/SaveaGirl and look good while giving back!!!!

Educate Girls Globally

Research has proven time and time again that investing in girls and women is essential for economic growth and social achievement. When women and girls are educated, the birthrate falls, family health improves, literacy increases because an educated mother is more likely to send her children to school, political extremism and violence decline, and national income grows (EGG, 2010).

Save a Girl, Change the World gives recognition the organization Educate Girls Globally (EGG).

The Educate Girls Globally team is small, close-knit, highly experienced and very focused on our mission to provide opportunities for women and girls to achieve their full potential, recognizing that educated women are the world’s most powerful agents of social change (EGG, 2010).

Please take a moment to read more about the organization. EGG also accepts volunteers to work abroad. www.educategirls.org

Girls matter because they are human beings. Girls have equal rights to human dignity, self-determination, freedom from violence, good health, education, and participation in economic and political life (Global & Investment Action Agenda, 2009).

The wellbeing of girls is vital for societies—and protecting girls’ rights and fostering their opportunities is the right strategy for economic development (Global & Investment Action Agenda, 2009).
